Our Mission
Your act of generosity impacts our longevity and how we contribute to our community.
Mission & Values
At Stillwater Hospice, our mission is to provide compassion, comfort, and guidance through life's journey. Since 1888, we have walked alongside individuals and families facing serious illness, end-of-life, and grief—meeting them where they are with dignity, respect, and care. We believe every person deserves to be seen as a whole human being, not a diagnosis, and that no one should face illness, death, or loss alone. Through hospice, palliative care, and community grief support, we serve neighbors across northeast Indiana with expertise, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to access, regardless of ability to pay.
Our work is guided by five core values: Compassion, Comfort, Guidance, Inclusivity, and Stewardship . Compassion shapes how we listen and respond; comfort drives our commitment to expert symptom management and emotional support; and guidance ensures patients and families are never left to navigate uncertainty alone. Inclusivity reflects our promise to welcome and serve all people with respect and cultural humility. Stewardship calls us to honor the trust placed in us-by families, donors, and community partners-through ethical leadership, responsible use of resources, and long-term sustainability. Together, these values ensure Stillwater Hospice remains a trusted presence today and a compassionate resource for generations to come.
